What we're doing

Carbon Reduction Management Plan

In 2019, we recognised and declared a climate emergency. We made a commitment to look for ways that we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support Suffolk's aim of becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

We have committed to:

  1. 'taking the lead in responding to the challenge of climate change and protecting and enhancing our natural and historic environments'
  2. 'leaving a positive legacy for our children and grandchildren'

Our Carbon Reduction Management Plan details how we will do this.

Our accompanying Action Plan, which is split into themes, also details the individual actions that we are taking, as well as their costs.

Biodiversity Action Plan

Our new Biodiversity Action Plan focusses on how biodiversity is integrated in all we do.

We are doing this through these six areas:

  1. Engage – provide greater opportunity for people to connect with the natural environment
  2. Educate – help people to understand what can be done and why it is important
  3. Expand – create bigger and more habitats
  4. Enhance – manage what we have better
  5. Embed – make biodiversity a routine part of what we do
  6. Endure – ensure that what we do provides lasting impact
