Local Listed Building Consent Order - Windows
Local Listed Building Consent Order (the 'Order') in respect of certain works to windows in Grade II Listed Buildings within the Districts of Babergh and Mid Suffolk. (The Order does not apply to Grade II* and or Grade I listed buildings.
This Order relates to the:
- installation of secondary glazing to historic windows
- installation of double glazing, or energy saving glass, to windows which have previously been consented and introduced after listing - or which are already installed within a consented modern or post-listing extension
This Order gives a very clear signal to residents and businesses that we take the need to drive down carbon use seriously - and we are prepared to be proactive in achieving this.
This could encourage more building owners to act proactively too, rather than being deterred by the consent process.
The Order will last for three years at the outset and - if successful - may be extended.
What is a Local Listed Building Consent Order?
Local Listed Building Consent Orders are a legal measure which allow local planning authorities to grant listed building consent for alterations to more than one listed building - including groups of listed buildings in all or part of the borough, or buildings or a particular description.
This is a proactive and blanket grant of listed building consent, which means that owners of the specified listed buildings will not have to make individual applications, but will be able to proceed with the works - provided that they comply with any conditions attached to the Order.
