Drinkstone Neighbourhood Plan
The Drinkstone Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) has been prepared by Drinkstone Parish Council and will be used to help guide and shape future development in the parish.
Formal Adoption (May 2021)
In an 'out of meeting' decision taken on 19 May 2021, Mid Suffolk District Council agreed to adopt ('make') the Drinkstone NDP.
This NDP, which plans to 2036, now forms part of the development plan and will be used to help determine planning applications in the parish of Drinkstone unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

Local Referendum (6 May 2021)
A local referendum on the Drinkstone NDP was held on 6 May 2021. The question asked of those entitled to vote was: 'Do you want Mid Suffolk District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Drinkstone to help it decide planning applications in the Neighbourhood Plan Area?'

Reg 18 Exam Report Decision Statement (17 June 2020)
The decision that this NDP. modified in accordance with the exam report, should proceed to referendum was made by Mid Suffolk Cabinet on 9 June 2020.
Reg 17 Independent Examination (Final Report - 24 Apr 2020)
The Drinkstone NDP was independently examined by Ann Skippers BSc (Hons) MRTPI FHEA FRSA AoU. The examination was conducted through written correspondence.
Reg 16 Submission Consultation (16 Dec 2019 – 7 Feb 2020)
The submission draft Drinkstone NDP was made available for public consultation between 16 December 2019 and 7 February 2020. The Parish Council (the qualifying body) had formally submitted the following documents:
- A Map identifying the NDP Area
- The submission draft Drinkstone NDP (Nov 2019)
- A Consultation Statement
- A Basic Conditions Statement
- Copies of the SEA/HRA Screening Report and Determination Notices (see further below)
- A number of supporting documents (now published above with the adopted NDP)
An assessment on how this NDP met the basic conditions formed part of examination. At the time of submission, our initial checks suggested that the relevant requirements had been met. View our Reg 15 Checklist.
Respondents were also reminded that their comments would be forwarded to the independent examiner and, with the exception of personal contact details, be published on this website. The Parish Council were also given the opportunity to respond to any new issues raised at this stage.
SEA/HRA Screening & Determination (Oct 2019)
The pre-submission draft NDP was screened to determine whether a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and or a Habitats Assessment (HRA) were needed. Both were 'screened-out'. The relevant report and determination notices are published below:
