Gaming and gambling permits
Gaming machines on alcohol licensed premises
As per the Gambling Act 2005, gaming machines on alcohol licensed premises are regulated under the following arrangements:
Permits issued under Section 34 of the Gaming Act 1968 are normally valid for three years, and until their expiration date. Before the permit expires, you will need to make a conversion application for a new gaming machine permit, at a cost of £100. Gaming machine permits are subject to an annual fee of £50, but no renewal papers are needed.
Premises which hold a premises licence (as per the Licensing Act 2003) for selling alcohol for consumption on the premises, are automatically entitled to two category C or D gaming machines. You will need to issue us with a notification, at a cost of £50. This notification will last for the duration of the premises licence, unless the licence is transferred. Notifications are not subject to an annual fee
Qualifying premises which hold a premises licence may apply for a gaming machine permit, to install any number of gaming machines. This has an initial cost of £150, followed by an annual fee of £50. Applications are assessed on individual merit and may need review from elected Councillors, in some cases
If you have gaming machines on your premises, you will be subject to the Gambling Commission's Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice
Gaming machine permits can be varied, transferred or have a name change. Variation applications cost £100 and transfers - or name changes - cost £25
