Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report Consultation 2026
Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils have published a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Report to support the preparation of the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Joint Local Plan.
As part of the evidence-gathering for the Joint Local Plan, the Councils have published a Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report. Sustainability Appraisal helps us understand the social, environmental and economic impacts of the plan and the different options we could take. This Scoping Report explains how we propose to carry out that assessment.
We are now asking for your views on the Scoping Report. We would like to know:
- Are there any other plans, policies or programmes that you think should be included in the Sustainability Appraisal?
- Is the baseline information complete and robust enough for this stage of the assessment?
- Are there any key sustainability issues affecting the area that we have missed?
- Is the proposed Sustainability Appraisal framework in Chapter 11 appropriate?
The consultation runs for five weeks from Thursday 5 February 2026 until 4pm on Monday 16 March 2026. Please make sure any comments are submitted by the deadline, either via the consultation portal below or to localplan@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk
