Pension Credit
Are you someone in receipt of State Retirement Pension who finds it difficult to manage all your household costs?
You may be entitled to extra support.
Find out if you are entitled to Pension Credit by checking online https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator.
Pension Credit is worth (on average) £3,900 per year and unlocks additional support including Winter Fuel Payments, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, NHS dental care and, for those over the age of 75, a free TV licence.
Thanks to Pension Credit backdating rules, it is possible to apply for Pension Credit and have the claim backdated by up to 3 months as long as there is entitlement during that time. This means the latest date to apply and still qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment is 21 December 2024.
Even if you do not qualify for Pension Credit, you may be entitled to some help with your rent or Council Tax. Make a claim to find out!
If you would like help to apply, or further information about other support you may be entitled to, you can contact your local Citizens Advice for a free benefit check and specialist advice.
You can find more information about the help and support available to make your money go further on our Cost of Living webpage.
