New fund launched to transform district’s high streets
Mid Suffolk District Council’s new Town and Village Centre Business Improvement Fund is designed to support projects that make businesses more attractive and sustainable, helping them to remain resilient and open opportunities for growth.
Funding can support a range of improvements, including new shopfronts and signage, lighting, accessible doors and ramps, customer facilities, security measures, solar panels and other equipment to support business growth or environmental performance.
Grants between £500 and £10,000 are available to small business, shops and landlords of commercial or community-run properties in eligible towns and villages across Mid Suffolk, including Stowmarket, Needham Market, Eye, Debenham, Stowupland, Elmswell, Woolpit, Thurston, Great Blakenham and Claydon.
"We are aware of how difficult the national, global and climate picture is for businesses, but despite that, our entrepreneurial spirit remains strong in Mid Suffolk. Therefore, as a council, we are always looking to nurture that spirit and help it to grow.
"In our rural district our high streets are small but vital to their towns or villages. We want to provide a helping hand to businesses that wish to make meaningful improvements to their premises and make themselves more resilient.
"From giving your business a fresh look with new signage to the installation of solar panels and accessibility measures, there’s a broad range of projects that can be supported, so don’t hesitate to submit your application.”
