First steps towards potential Climate Hub for Stowmarket
Last week (25 February), 38 delegates gathered at The Mix in Stowmarket to attend Mid Suffolk District Councils' Climate Hub workshop.
The event explored establishing a Climate Hub in Stowmarket - primarily dedicated to decarbonising housing stock in the region.
It brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including local businesses, corporates, community groups, academia, and the public sector.
They collaborated to look at identifying:
- the best strategies to aid decarbonisation of local housing through a new Climate Hub in the town
- the target audience and methods to inspire, engage, and support them
- an optimal location for the hub, including possible high street options
- how the hub would operate, including what it could look like and the services it could provide
- what success metrics could look like over one, five, and 10 years
- a hub's unique benefits, challenges, and opportunities
- key partners, leverageable assets and valuable resources a hub could tap into
"I want to thank partners from across various sectors who came together for an energetic and insightful discussion arriving at practical solutions for a more sustainable future for Mid Suffolk.
"Our collective vision for a Climate Hub in Stowmarket is focussed on decarbonising housing, showcasing and signposting products and expertise, reducing energy bills and collaboratively promoting environmental sustainability for our region."
