Green-fingered residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk can collect free compost in May

Green-fingered residents in Babergh and Mid Suffolk can collect free compost next month as part of a drive to get people growing.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are once again holding their compost giveaways this spring.

The aim is to support people to live a greener lifestyle through experiencing the joys of growing their own plants.

The free giveaways have been timed to coincide with International Compost Awareness Week (4-10 May) which aims to raise public awareness about the benefits of composting.

These benefits include creating healthier soil, as well as the reduction of emissions and waste.

Collection events are taking place at:

•    Eye Community Centre – Saturday 3 May, from 8am
•    Morrisons car park, Hadleigh – Sunday 4 May, from 8am
•    Station Road car park, Sudbury – Saturday 10 May, from 8am
•    Needham Lake, Needham Market – Sunday 11 May, from 8am

Attendees will be allowed up to a maximum of two bags per vehicle.

The events will be on a first come, first served basis and will finish once the compost runs out.
