Notice of the commencement of the period for the exercise of public rights

The Council’s accounts are subject to external audit by Ernst & Young, One Cambridge Square, Cambridge North, Cambridge, CB4 2YE.
Members of the public and local government electors have certain rights in the audit process. The period of exercise of public rights commences at 10.00am on 1 July 2025 and will conclude at 4.00pm on 11 August 2025. During this period, between 10.00am and 4.00pm on working days Monday to Friday:
- Any person may inspect the accounts of the council for the year ended 31 March 2025 and certain related documents (comprising books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts). They may also make copies of the accounts and documents. Application should be made initially in writing to the Director (Resources and Property) at the address below.
- A local government elector for the area of the council may ask the auditor questions about the accounts. Please contact the auditor at the address above to make arrangements to ask any questions and send a copy of any questions to the council at the address below.
- A local government elector for the area of the council may object to the council’s accounts asking that the auditor issue a report in the public interest or apply for a declaration that an item in the accounts is unlawful under section 28 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. Written notice of a proposed objection and the grounds on which it is made must be sent to the auditor at the address given above and copied to the council at the address given below.
