Empty homes

The government wants to reduce the number of empty homes, by bringing them back into use. This is a sustainable way to increase overall housing supply.
We have an empty homes initiative called 'Houses 4 Homes'. It aims to help fulfil the growing housing need, and offer more choice to the market, by reducing the number of long-term empty homes within the district.
We recognise that residential properties may become empty for a number of reasons. We work with you, to help you return your properties to occupied use.
We work with property owners in a number of ways, and to prevent you from being subjected to any legal enforcement action.
Please complete our questionnaire, so that we can learn more about your circumstances, and how we can help.
Our assistance includes - and is not limited to:
- general advice and support
- construction support and project planning
- landlord lettings and income assistance

You can also email enquiries@houses4homes.org or phone 0300 1234000.
In cases where action has not been taken, and a property remains empty, we may have to rely on legislation to take action against an owner and return a property to use.

If you believe a residential property within the district is empty, you can report it online, via our form.
