Gambling Act 2005: Review of Licensing Authority's Statement of Principles
Part of the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 (the “Act”) requires the Council, as the Licensing Authority, to produce a Statement of Principles, setting out how we intend to administer our responsibilities under the Act. The Statement of Principles is in effect for a period of three years.
The existing Statement of Principles has been in force since 31 January 2022. However, it now requires revision and review for the revised version to take effect from 31 January 2025 at which time the next year three-year cycle begins.
The Licensing Authority is required to hold a consultation process on the revised Statement of Principles, which will take place between 12 November 2024 and 24 December 2024.

Any comments you forward to the Licensing Authority should clearly state your name, any organisation or persons on whose behalf you may be responding and your address. It would also be helpful if you would give a brief description of any specific interest you have in gambling matters (for example you may be involved in some capacity with existing gambling premises, vulnerable persons / children's groups, or be an individual or business affected by gambling premises near to you).
